Recognition and Tracking of Ships from Long Range (LRIT)

LRIT
LRIT

With the Long-Distance Ship Identification and Tracking System, ships are identified and tracked globally. It is generally a reporting system from ships to flag states.

With the decision taken by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the Maritime Safety Committee (MSC), countries that are parties to the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) have been required to be included in the Long-Range Recognition and Tracking of Ships (LRIT) system. Türksat provides a very comprehensive and low-cost LRIT data centre service.
